I watched ‘Les Miserables’ for the first time not long after my return from Australia, and was inspired by the love the characters had for Cosette (the daughter in the play).
Spending some months in Australia took me out of my personal story for a bit, and when I returned I discovered a loving sentiment for my culture. There was a moment I looked at this broom with these thoughts, and decided to paint it to represent my identity as a first-generation immigrant.
