The painting is part of a portrait series of my mother who has worked at a flower shop since our family immigrated to the U.S. This work explores the tendency I have, to make my mixed feelings of her sacrifices more beautiful. Juxtaposing her allergy-prone flesh and flowers I meditate on the purpose of my process and hers.
